Cachoeira Energia ensures initiatives for environmental conservation and promotes business ethics.
The Cachoeira Caldeirão HPP, with 219 MW of installed capacity, is located in the state of Amapá, on the Araguari river. In operation since May of 2016, eight months before the proposed schedule, it is linked to the National Interconnected System (SIN) through a transmission line linking the plant to the Ferreira Gomes substation in Amapá.
The hydroelectric plant operates by the trickling of water, a technology in which power generation occurs with low accumulated water volume. This project reinforces the performance of EDP - Energias do Brasil in the area of electric power generation, in line with the Company’s growth strategy. The Cachoeira Caldeirão HPP is operated in partnership with CWEI Brasil Participações, a company that belongs to China Three Gorges (CTG).
